Leah Koehler of Monticello placed third in the National Cattle Congress Iowa Supreme Junior Champion Heifer Show Sept. 16 in Waterloo.

Koehler won a $500 scholarship with her Holstein heifer, Sadie. Each of the 22 entries in the class had been selected as the Supreme or Reserve Champion Dairy Heifer in their respective counties. Koehler’s calf was selected as the Junior Champion at the Great Jones County Fair in July.

It was Leah’s first year as a member of the Prairie Hill 4-H Club, and her first year showing dairy cattle.
