Larabee receives Lions Presidential Medal

     Monticello Lions Club member Phil Larabee was presented with the Lions Club International Presidential Medal in February 2017. The Lions Club International Presidential Medal may only be presented to 1,125 Lions Club members annually in the world and only to Lions Club International members who meet a certain criteria. Today, Lions Club International has approximately 1.4 million members, thus only .08 percent of the members are selected for this award annually.

     Larabee is a 25-year member of the Lions Club International. Over the past 25 years, he has been a member of the Monticello Lions Club from 1991-2005, a member of the Vinton Lions Club in 2006, and then a member of the Monticello club from 2007 to today. Larabee has served his club in numerous functions including President.

     Larabee also served on the District Board as Youth Exchange Chair, Trustee to the Iowa Lions Foundation, and as a Zone Chair.

     At the state level, Larabee served as Vice President of the Iowa Lions Foundation, is the Coordinator for the Iowa portion of the Iowa to Wisconsin Eye Tissue Relay, which started in the fall of 2011 to today. Larabee is also a co-founder of the Iowa Lions Foundation Gala, which has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Iowa Lions Foundation.

     Larabee is currently in his 30th year in banking as a Vice President at Citizens State Bank in Monticello where he is a commercial lender.
