Late points give victory to Monti JV

     Monticello scored four points in the final 31 seconds to grab a 26-22 victory over Durant in junior varsity girls basketball action Dec. 21 in Monticello.

     Sami McElmeel sank two free throws with 30.6 seconds to play to give the Panthers (4-4) a 24-22 lead. Then, Marisa Kehoe made a steal and drove in for a layup with 17 seconds left to provide the final margin.

     Issabella Mullen scored 12 points, grabbed four rebounds and made two steals for Monticello. McElmeel finished with five points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Kehoe had five points, five rebounds and seven steals.

     Hailey Henderson had two points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Ava Capron had two points. Madilynn Kromminga and Natalie Henderson had three rebounds apiece.
