LETTER: Volunteer, donate to help downtown Monticello thrive
To the editor,
I am writing to express my support for Monticello IA Main Street, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to refresh, revitalize and renew our historic downtown through small business growth, building rehabilitation and community engagement.
In the three years since receiving its formal designation as a Main Street community, Monticello has boosted the local economy and quality of life through events such as Monti Days and Monti in Motion. Supporting small businesses by leveraging the lowa Downtown Resource Center’s downtown assessment has helped to preserve architecture and enhance retail merchandising efforts in the downtown Monticello district.
Executive Director Brian Wolken is working tirelessly to build on the organization’s success.
To do so, he needs the help of everyone reading this letter. If you have the time and an opinion, please consider volunteering on a committee. If you have the resources and are looking for a place to make a year-end charitable contribution, please consider a financial pledge to Monticello IA Main Street. As an individual donor or a business - in or outside of the downtown district - your support is vital to the organization’s ability to keep moving forward.
Monticello means so much to so many. Keeping our community’s downtown vibrant is vital.
