Lions Club blood drive set for Sept. 12

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor and the Monticello Community,

The Monticello Lions Club will be assisting the Red Cross with the Monticello Community Blood Drive on Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Monticello Berndes Center, located at the Jones County Fairgrounds.

For an appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit RedCrossBlood.org and search for sponsor code: Monticello, Ia. Walk-ins are welcome to donate blood in the afternoon.

The Red Cross collects and distributes about 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply. On any given day, approximately 44,000 pints of blood may be required to meet the needs of patients across the United States.

Individuals who are at least 17 years of age (16 years with written parental permission in Iowa), weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in good health may be eligible to donate blood.

The Monticello Lions hope to see you at the blood drive on Sept. 12.
