Lions Club thanks for blood drive support

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor and the Monticello community,

The Monticello Lions Club thanks the citizens of the Monticello community for supporting the American Red Cross Blood Drive held on Tuesday, April 24.

Our goal was to collect 75 units of blood. Forty-nine units of whole blood was collected, 24 units of Power reds was collected, and there were seven deferrals. Total units collected were 73 units, which was 97.3 percent of our goal. Potential lives saved according to the Red Cross was 171.

A special thanks to the Monticello Fareway for donating juice, Monticello Rotary for the use of their street signs, the local churches, businesses, factories, and the Monticello Express for helping the Lions promote the blood drive. It was an enjoyable day to visit and donate blood.

Thanks to everyone who participated; you did make a difference.

Sincerely,

John Lacock

and the Monticello Lions
