Lois Freese

Lois Freese, 96, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, at her home. 

Funeral Services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor David Raemisch officiated at the services.  Friends called after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello is in charge of the arrangements.   In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. 

She is survived by three children, Nancy (Marvin) Dusanek, James (Penny) Freese, Gary (Janet) Freese; four grandchildren, David (Michelle) Dusanek, Jenny (Nate) King, Lauren (Clay) Craighton and Matt Freese; five great-grandchildren, Macy, Keaton and Cobie Dusanek, Gavin and Naomi King, and Cael and Mia Craighton.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 75 years, Loren; a sister, Jean Ann; and a brother, Harry Guyan.

Lois Lavonne Guyan was born, March 30, 1929, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa.  She was the daughter of Paul and Ann Hein, Guyan.  Lois graduated from Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1947. A month later she married her high school sweetheart, Loren Freese, on June 19, 1947, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.  The couple farmed on County Line Road in Lovell Township.  Lois worked briefly at Farmers Mutual Creamery in Monticello.  Later in life she worked at REM Electric and K Company Antiques. 

Lois was a life-long member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and participated in Bible Study.  She had been active in 4-H and Camp Fire.  Lois enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and mowing lawn.
