Louis T. Slauson May 6, 1926-Dec. 29, 2016

     Louis T. Slauson, 90, of Coralville and formerly of Monticello died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Windmill Manor in Coralville. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m.

     Louis was born May 6, 1926, on the family farm near Sand Springs, Iowa, the son of Roy and Marion (Egan) Slauson. He married Juanita Rohrer at the Immaculate Conception Church in Sand Springs on March 1, 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948, and participated in the occupation of Germany until December of 1949. He worked at the Hoag Duster factory, and then began a career in feed sales, starting at the Monticello Feed Mill, then eventually became a territory manager for Protein Blenders, Inc. (BP Feeds), where he worked for 27 ½ years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1821 where he was a Past Grand Knight, and a past member of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War.

     Louis is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Juanita; three sons: Lavern Slauson of Stone Lake, Wis., Douglas (Jennifer) Slauson of Swisher, and Brad (Abby) Slauson of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren: Lavender Mateos, Anne (Anthony) Schons, and Katie Slauson; three great grandchildren; two sisters: Marie Stevens of Oelwein and Joyce Tenley of Anamosa; in-laws: Mary Slauson of Oso, Wash., and Jane Slauson of Webster City.

     He is preceded in death by six siblings: Donald Slauson, Duane Slauson, Grace (Louis) Gudenkauf, Harry Slauson, Mae (Joe) Gudenkauf, and Velma (John) White.
