Two area wrestlers competed – and won – at the War at West Gym, a wrestling all-star event March 16 at West Gym, Cedar Falls.

Monticello’s Chase Luensman, who finished third in Class 2A at 145 pounds in the recent State Wrestling Tournament, competed for Team Red, and scored a 6-0 victory over 145-pound state champion Joey Busse of Humboldt.

“This was a good accomplishment for Chase,” said Ryan Luensman, Chase’s high school coach. “This was a match we didn’t get at the state tournament, and it was great to see the outcome.”

Also competing was Damon Huston of Midland, who wrestled for the Team Blue. Huston, who finished third in the state in the Class 1A, 106-pound division, edged Jace Rhodes of Mason City 6-5. Rhodes was state runner-up in Class 3A at 106 pounds.

The event featured 13 total matches. Team Red defeated Team Blue 32-10.
