      Mary Jane Steiner, age 97, died Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Sunset Park Place, Dubuque, surrounded by her family. Private family graveside services will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, Iowa. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Mary Jane and her family into their care. Memorials may be made to the Monticello School Foundation for use by the Special Education Staff. The family would like to thank, Hospice of Dubuque and the staff in the Weland Gardens section of Sunset Park Place for all their compassionate care given to Mary Jane.

      Surviving are two children, Kimberly Steiner of Dubuque, Scott (Lori) Steiner of Maquoketa, three granddaughters, Shawna (Nick) Barton, Staci (Kevin) Williams and Katlyn (Wes Middleswart) Steiner, and five great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pete and a daughter, Eulon.

     Mary Jane Koster was born Dec. 17, 1923 at Dubuque, Iowa. She was the daughter of Alfred and Sylvia McKinny, Koster. Mary Jane received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Iowa. She taught Special Education in the Monticello Elementary Schools. She was active in the Special Olympics. Mary Jane married Vernon "Pete" Steiner on June 29, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Farley. The couple owned and operated the Gambles Hardware Store in Monticello for many years. Mary Jane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello and was a member of the Pie Committee.
