      Mary LaRayne (Werner) Brokaw, 68, of Manchester, formerly of Monticello, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at her home. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, with Reverend Gabriel Anderson officiating. Visitation was 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 11 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Interment was at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.

      Mary was born on Nov. 14, 1952, in Manchester the only daughter and youngest child of Raymond and Anna (Hildebrand) Werner. Mary graduated from West Delaware High School in 1970 and the University of Northern Iowa in 1974.

      Mary married Milo Blake Brokaw on Oct. 18, 1980, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She and Milo lived in Wyoming and Arizona before moving to Monticello.  Mary worked in Monticello for many years as a legal secretary with Erdahl Law Office. Milo died on Nov. 30, 2020. Mary moved to Manchester in May of 2021.

      Mary was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello and was more recently a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. She will be remembered for her kindness to all she encountered.

      She is survived by four brothers, Lawrence (Inez) Werner of Manchester, Ralph Werner of Strawberry Point, Dale Werner of Erie, Penn., and Eugene “Tobe” (Deb) Werner of Manchester; one sister-in-law, Betty Werner of Manchester; two brothers-in-law, Randy (Sue) Brokaw of Delhi and Kim (Katherine) Brokaw of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

      Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Milo; her parents, her parents-in-law, Ray and Nancy Brokaw: her brother, James Werner; and sisters-in-law, Joan Werner and Monica Brokaw.
