Mayor talks government with students

Monticello Mayor Dena Himes spoke with third graders at Carpenter School on Nov. 21 about her role as mayor. The students have been learning about the importance of voting and government. Himes took questions from the students about her six years as mayor and 20 years on the city council. They asked about the different city departments, where the city funds come from (taxes), and the different projects Himes has been a part of. At the end of the year, Himes will retire.
