McKean fights for rural Iowa
To the Editor,
Representative Andy McKean has been a great voice for rural counties in the Iowa Legislature.
The Iowa Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) program is one that Andy fought for, and benefits all of us with outdoor recreational opportunities: soil and water enhancement and historical resources. REAP provides conservation-related dollars and is funded with tax revenue from the state’s gambling entities. Jackson and Jones counties have received over $10 million from the program (by my count, it has funded over 230 projects) that has been used for trails, equipment, wetland development, forestry, and native vegetation. This list goes on.
The program expires in 2021 and when re-elected, Andy will fight to renew REAP. We need legislators like Representative McKean who will continue to support and renew the REAP program.
Re-elect Andy McKean as a strong voice for rural Iowa.
