COVID numbers throughout the Monticello Community School District are remaining pretty stagnant.

Superintendent Brian Jaeger shared his weekly update on Nov. 5. The district reported three positive COVID cases for K-12, including students and staff. This number is down six cases from the previous week.

The district is also monitoring 20 cases, students and staff. These cases are those in quarantine, those waiting for a COVID test, or those out with COVID-like symptoms. This number is up by just two cases.

Jaeger shared that the Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting a seven-day positivity rate of 9 percent for Jones County. This is down by just 1 percent from the previous week. Jones County has had 42 positive COVID cases in the last seven day, down by two cases.

“Looking at the chart of COVID cases on the IDPH website, it looks like cases are continuing to trend down at this time,” noted Jaeger. “If we combine COVID cases with cases we are monitoring, we are around 2 percent of our staff and student population currently out for COVID-related reasons.”
