MFD holds second practice burn

The Monticello Fire Department spent the morning of Saturday, May 13 training at another house that was donated to the department. This home was located on the Kent and Kelly Helgens farm.

The first series of exercises that morning focused on search-and-rescue in the upper level of the two-story home. The department also worked on communication skills between the interior attack team and the safety officer.

A while later, the drills moved down to the first level of the house where members focused on fire behavior and water application training.

A few members of the Anamosa Fire Department were also involved in the training drills.

The Monticello Fire Department would like to thank the Helgens family, as well as the Brett Tuetken family for donating homes to assist in their training program.
