Micheal Lynn Nowachek, 58, of Monticello passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for over a year at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center. 

His memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Monmouth. Burial was held at Monmouth Cemetery. Micheal’s family requested Iowa Hawkeye apparel be worn to his service in his honor. Lahey & Dawson Funeral Services of Maquoketa is assisting the family. 

Micheal was born on Feb. 20, 1961 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Ronnie and Shirley (Hurst) Nowachek. He was baptized on Feb. 23, 1961 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Maquoketa. He completed the Pre-vocational Technical Program at Audubon Public School. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Monmouth. Micheal went many times to Camp Courageous and attended their bus tours. He enjoyed country music and playing Bingo. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, but he was the biggest Iowa Hawkeye fan. For the last year he called the Monticello Nursing & Rehab Center his home. Micheal was the kindest person you would ever meet and had a smile that would fill a room. He will be missed and loved by many. 

Those left to cherish his memories are his sister Kim DeMoss of Dubuque, step-mother Jody ( James) Nowachek-Miller of Anamosa, step-grandmother Delores Neal of Monticello, his little sister Koree Miller of Anamosa, nephews Brad Bahnsen and Derick DeMoss, step-nieces Stacie DeMoss, Mindie Adamos and step-nephew Tommy DeMoss and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and their families. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to his family in his honor.
