Mid-Prairie was able to take advantage of its scoring opportunities, while the Monticello Panthers struggled in that category, allowing Mid-Prairie to secure a 6-1 girls soccer win April 15 at Dean Nelson Field in Monticello.

The Panthers (1-2) had 11 shot attempts, and nine shots on goal, but the lone goal was scored by Rylee Bauer on a left-footed shot in the first half. The goal came on a rebound off a corner kick attempt.

“Missing shots early in the match took away some of the momentum that would have changed the complexion of the game,” Monticello coach Bruce Feuling said. “We have been working on better ball control and making better decisions both on offense and defense.”

Sophia Ahlrichs and Bauer each had three shots on goal in the match. Gracie Tuel had two, and Megan James had one.

Lydia Lange played the entire match as the Monticello goalkeeper.
