Middle school Panther girls win RVC title

CROSS COUNTRY

     The Monticello Middle School girls’ cross country team won the championship at the River Valley Conference Meet Thursday, Oct. 12 at Kickers Soccer Park in Iowa City.

     The Panthers scored 33 points, defeating Iowa City and Northeast, each of whom had 54 points.

     Monticello’s top four runners were all in the top 15 overall. Lydia Recker finished sixth, Karle Kramer was seventh, Claire Tuetken 11th and Emma Althoff 13th.

     Monticello’s boys finished fifth as a team, with 106 points, behind Cascade with 31, Tipton with 37, Iowa City Regina with 54 and Mid-Prairie with 60.

     Dylan Ponder ran 19th and Harrison Ahlrichs was 20th to lead the Panther boys.

     The meet ended the season for the middle school teams.
