Middle schoolers run in home meet

CROSS COUNTRY

     Monticello’s middle school cross country teams ran in their own invitational Saturday, Sept. 9 at Monticello High School.

     The Panthers were second out of three teams in the girls’ middle school race. Mid-Prairie won with 29, Monticello had 31 and Tipton scored 72. Lydia Recker was the top Panther runner, finishing fourth overall in 14:07. Claire Tuetken was fifth in 14:16, Karle Kramer eighth in 14:57, and Emma Althoff ninth in 15:12.

     The Monticello boys took third out of five teams in the invitational, with 65 points. Tipton won with 31, and Mid-Prairie was second with 65. Alex Manzalvo led the Panthers, taking ninth in a time of 13:23 for the two-mile course. Grant Hospodarsky was 10th in 13:28, and Dylan Ponder was 13th in 13:37.
