Midland wins one of three

Wrestling

     Midland won one of three duals in a quadrangular meet Jan. 17 at Alburnett. The Eagles lost 45-33 to Alburnett, defeated Clayton Ridge 48-18, and lost a close one to North Linn, 33-28.

     Griffin Gravel went 3-0 for the night with a pin, a major decision and a forfeit. Others scoring wins by pin were Cayden Miller, Carson Hunter and Hunter Shoaff, all against Alburnett. Brett Schoenherr had a decision victory.

 

Girls basketball

     Midland (5-3, 7-8) got off to a good start in a girls basketball game at Bellevue Marquette Jan. 15, leading 13-12 after one quarter, but was outscored 47-19 the rest of the way in a 59-32 loss. Mikayla Dosland led Midland in scoring with nine points, while Delanie Uppena had six points and seven rebounds. Drew Jensen made four assists and three steals. Arianna Hacke and Uppena had three assists each, while Morgan Soper and Allison Paulsen had three steals each.

 

Boys basketball

     Midland (2-5, 3-11) suffered a 66-53 boys basketball loss at Bellevue Marquette Jan. 15 despite a 23-point effort from Britan Martens. Iziek Soper had eight points and 21 rebounds, while Ethan Kaftan had eight points and six rebounds. Getting three assists apiece were Carsen Rupp, Jensen Dodge, Martens and Soper.
