Monti is fourth in EIGA; Reid Hall is runner-up

   Reid Hall shot a 4-under par 140 over two days to finish second overall, and the Monticello men’s golf team finished fourth out of 10 clubs at the Eastern Iowa Golf Association Tournament Aug. 13-14 at the Bellevue Golf Club.

   Dyersville was the team champion with a two-day total of 1486. Solon finished second at 1492, Bellevue was third with 1495, and Monticello fourth with 1513.

   Rounding out the team scores were Anamosa, fifth, 1517; Mount Vernon, sixth, 1530; West Liberty, seventh, 1530; Tipton, eighth, 1582; and Central City and Wahkonsa (Durant), tied for ninth with 1593 apiece.

   Reid Hall shot 69-71–140 to finish second by five strokes. The individual champion was Chris Frank of Bellevue, with a 135.

   Chance Manternach and Mike Wennekamp were among a five-way tie for 23rd place, each with 149. Dustin Hall tied for 28th with 150.

   Also playing for Monticello: Matt Wennekamp, 152; Aaron Prull, 154; Seth Ballou, 155; Bo Kramer, 158; Gannon Hall, 161; Phil McDonald, 161; Chad Norton, 162; and Justin Recker, 164.

   The EIGA awards an $800 scholarship to one student from each of its clubs. Monticello’s recipient for this year was Justin Recker.
