Monti has busy week

GIRLS SOCCER

While it was a busy week for the Monticello High School girls soccer team last week, it wasn’t as successful as the Panthers may have hoped it would be.

The Panthers (1-7) played a pair of varsity matches and two junior varsity matches, all on the road, and were unable to come away with a win.

The varsity played at Marion April 29, and lost 14-0. Monticello was unable to get a shot on goal during the match. Panther goalkeeper Lydia Lange made 12 saves.

In the junior varsity match, Monticello lost 5-0. Hannah Ahlrichs was the Panther goalkeeper in that one.

Monticello was more productive offensively in a May 3 match at Bellevue Marquette, producing 10 shots on goal, but came out on the short end of a 5-0 loss.

Taking shots on goal for the Panthers were Rylee Bauer, Esther Funk, Jordan Lorenzen and Caroline Olson with two apiece; and Sarah Spence and Gracie Tuel with one each.

Lange was in goal for most of the match and made 10 saves before she was removed due to an injury. Ahlrichs finished as the goalkeeper, making one save.

The Panther junior varsity also played a match at North Scott May 2, and lost 9-0. Ahlrichs was the Monticello goalkeeper.
