The Fifth Annual Monti in Motion Show ‘n Shine & Cruise will fill up downtown Monticello on Saturday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

     E. First Street will be closed during that time, until the cars leave on the two-hour cruise. The cars will return around 5 p.m.

This event is sponsored by the Monticello Chamber of Commerce.

Registration for those who wish to show off their classic cars and trucks begins at 9 a.m. The cost is $5, with each participant receiving $5 in Chamber Bucks. Cars will enter at the intersection of First and Main streets and fill up beginning near the intersection of First and Cedar streets.

Events throughout the car show include a 50/50 drawing, music provided by Monticello’s own Darrell Reyner, and food vendors located on S. Sycamore Street. Downtown businesses will also be open for shopping throughout the car show as well. Winners in the 50/50 drawing will be called at noon and 2:30 p.m.

Those who wish to sell food and/or beverages can still sign up with the chamber. The vendor fee is $25 for non-chamber members, and free for those who are Monticello chamber members. Contact Jan Hoag at 319-465-5626 for more details.

There is no judging of cars and trucks during Monti in Motion; no trophies handed out. All classes are invited to show off their classic vehicles. There will be a designated location for racecars/stock cars and classic tractors as well.

Several door prizes for participants will be awarded. Those include concert tickets to Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, and Nickelback at this year’s Great Jones County Fair. Only registered drivers are eligible.

In accordance with Monti in Motion, there will also be a flea market, craft and vendor show inside the Berndes Center at the fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
