Monticello Ambulance Administrator Britt Smith released the service activity for the Monticello Ambulance Service for the month of November.

Total EMS calls for service: 69 (28 to City of Monticello addresses, 11 to Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, nine to Jones County addresses within the Monticello service area, nine Jones Regional Medical Center transfers, and 12 to Anamosa city addresses due to the Anamosa Ambulance Service being unavailable to respond)

“We have settled the claim for the 2008 ambulance that was involved in the motor vehicle accident,” said Smith.

The City of Monticello received a check for $14,500 from insurance, less the $1,000 deductible that will be refunded through the at-fault driver’s insurance company.

“I was also able to sell the damaged unit to Arrow Manufacturing for $3,000,” added Smith. “They will take the damaged unit and refurbish it for another service.”

The ambulance department received a total of $18,500 for the unit.

“This is a significant increase from the $4,500 we were anticipating as a trade-in,” noted Smith.

The department took delivery of the new ambulance on Nov. 19.
