Monticello is cattle forum site

The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association is hosting four free educational events for feedlot and cow/calf producers in the month of March, including one in Monticello.

Each forum will include a free meal, a tradeshow, an update from the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and Iowa Beef Industry Council, and educational sessions.

The Monticello session will be Wednesday, March 10, 5 p.m. in the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center, 800 N. Maple St.

     Topics and speakers include:

     • ICA Cattle Market Reform Efforts. Price discovery, market transparency and producer leverage are all on the minds of cattle producers due to extreme market disruptions over the past year. Hear an update on ICA’s cattle marketing efforts, current cattle marketing policy positions, importance of grassroots input and its influence on industry issues.

     • Iowa Beef Industry Council Update. Key accomplishments with the Beef Checkoff from the Iowa Beef Industry Council.  Attendees will have the opportunity to learn ways the Iowa Beef Industry Council is advocating for beef as the number one protein.
