Monticello chapter seniors show talents in variety of ways

FFA WEEK

     The Monticello FFA Chapter has many qualified and talented seniors setting examples for the underclassmen in the chapter.

     Here is a capsule look at Monticello’s FFA seniors.

     

     Name: Kadence Barnhart.

     Office held: Vice President.

     Parents/Guardians: Keith Barnhart and Amber Brokaw. 

     Hometown: Monticello.

     SAE project: Extracting honey for God’s Little Apiary, and working at The Grove Bar and Grill.

     FFA Activities: Conduct of Meetings, Food Science, Feed the Farmers, Leadership Conference, National Convention.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to National Convention my freshman year and really opening my eyes to something completely new, and seeing how careers that you wouldn’t expect to be connected to agriculture take a big part in it. And also being able to meet so many new people from all over the U.S., all in one place, for the same reasons you’re there for.

     Future plans: Going into the work force.

 

     Name: Faith Hansen

     Parents/Guardians: Dana and Kraig Hansen.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     FFA Activities: Fall Fest and Sub-Districts.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Getting a ribbon at Fall Fest for my picture.

     Future plans: Going to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on a veterinary track.

 

     Name: Gracie Henderson.

     Parents/Guardians: Chad and Melissa Henderson.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     SAE project: Horses.

     FFA Activities: FFA Volleyball, Conduct of Meetings, Amplify and Ignite Conference, Fruit Sales, Feed the Farmers.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: When we had won first for Conducts even though we all thought we were going to lose.

     Future plans: Go to Colorado State University and do therapy recreation and equine therapy.

 

     Name: Lydia Recker.

     Office held: Treasurer.

     Parents/Guardians: Cory and Emily Recker.

     Hometown: Hopkinton.

     SAE project: Showing cattle and working at Jellystone Campground.

     FFA Activities: Creed Speaking, Livestock Judging, showing cattle at county and state fair, Feed the Farmers, Hay and Grain Show.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Placing first at district team Livestock Judging this year.

     Future plans: Attend Loras College to obtain my bachelor’s degree in science while playing basketball. I will then transfer to Palmer to obtain a degree in chiropractic.

 

     Name: Owen Thomas.

     Office held: Treasurer.

     Parents/Guardians: Dina Dotterweich and Aaron Thomas.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     SAE project: Lawn mowing, tractor restoration and repairs.

     FFA Activities: Ag Mechanics, Nursery Landscaping, Livestock Judging, Parliamentary Procedure.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: State FFA; meeting new people and bonding with the people who went on the trip.

     Future plans: Attending Kirkwood’s ag diesel program.

 

     Name: Davin Wickman.

     Office held: Sentinel.

     Parents/Guardians: Amy and Alan Wickman.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     SAE project: Wickman Lawn Care.

     FFA Activities: Feed the Farmers, Ag Sales, Conduct of Meetings, Livestock Judging, Job Interview, Eighth-grade Orientation, Farm Business Management.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to Kirkwood for District Livestock Judging and winning as a team.

     Future plans: Attend Kirkwood Community College in golf course and sports turfgrass management, then expand Wickman Lawn Care.
