Monticello Farmers Market

Thank you to everyone who came down to Willow Shelter for the opening day of the 2018 Monticello Farmers Market season. The weather was not so great, but we had a great turnout of vendors and shoppers. A big “Thank you” to Pete Temple for sharing his music talents with us.

This year we have gift certificates available for purchase. A great “thank you” for a co-worker, teacher, family member, and friends.

Did you know that the latest U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans no longer places a limit on dietary cholesterol? That means that you can “put an egg on it”. Eggs are one of the trendiest ingredients on restaurant menus right now. Have you had a burger with an egg on top? So good! Also trending is all-natural foods. Eggs certainly are all natural with no added preservatives. They are also a good source of protein and low in calories. Most of the nutrients are found in the yolk, including lutein, which research shows protects our eyes from the “blue light” from our smartphones and computers. Eggs are also a good source of choline, a nutrient that is essential for brain health (cognition and memory).  Don’t forget to pick up a dozen or two of eggs when at the market. Just look for the vendor with the stuffed chicken. The chicken likes to move among the vendors.

Our market days are Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday morning from 8 to 11a.m.

The Monticello Farmers Market is located at Willow Shelter, next to Pizza Ranch.

Follow us on Facebook for market updates and pictures.

We look forward to seeing you at the market!
