Monticello is fifth in EIGA

MEN'S GOLF

     Chance Manternach finished second overall and Brian McDonald finished in the top 10, as the Monticello Golf Club team took fifth place in the Men’s Eastern Iowa Golf Association (EIGA) Tournament Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 12-13 at Wahkonsa Golf Course in Durant.

     Manternach’s score of 147 was one stroke behind medalist Sterling McIlravy of Solon. Brian McDonald totaled 151.

     The Monticello team finished just 16 strokes behind champion Solon (1557). Wahkonsa was second with 1566, Dyersville third with 1567, Anamosa fourth with 1570, Monticello fifth with 1573, Mount Vernon sixth with 1586, West Liberty seventh with 1633, Tipton eighth with 1651, and Bellevue ninth with 1655.

     Other Monticello individual scores were Mike Wennekamp 155, Tim Norton 155, Dustin Hall 158, Kevin Goedken 163, Aaron Prull 163, Andy Manternach 163, Phil McDonald 166, Jacob Bergman 166, Chad Norton 167, and Evan Felton 173.

     Each team offers an $800 EIGA scholarship to a deserving student; the Monticello scholarship went to Taylor Manternach.
