Monticello library kicks off Summer Reading, June 4

     The Monticello Public Library will start registration for the 2018 Summer Reading Program on Monday, June 4.

     The theme this year is: “Libraries Rock!” The library hopes everyone will join them for a great summer of fun. The reading program is open to all ages. Programs and activities will be available for babies, youth, teens and adults.

     Special guests this summer include:

     • Iowa State University Insect Zoo

     • Japanese Taiko Drums and Samurai Swords

     • Jones County Naturalist Michele Olson

     • Magician Rick Eugene

     • KCRG Weather Academy

     • Eulenspiegel Puppets

     • Green Iowa AmeriCorps

     • Jones County Dairy Princess

     • Outdoor Fun Day

     Families can come and enjoy movies, crafts, Family Story Time, Summer STEAM, and Lunch Bunch Building Legos all summer long.

     Special programs and crafts for tweens and teens, ages 11 and up, will also be available.

     Reading logs for all ages are available, and as participants finish their challenges, they will receive a small prize and a ticket for a chance to win one of the library’s grand prizes. Grand prizes include:

     • Adventureland tickets

     • AirFX jump passes

     • Cedar Rapids Kernels tickets

     • Great Jones County Fair tickets

     • Great Jones County Fair carnival vouchers

     • Great Jones County Fair gate passes

     • And more
