Monticello Lions host blood drive on Sept. 13
To the Editor, Monticello and neighboring communities,
The Monticello Lions will be assisting in the Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Monticello Berndes Center, located at the Jones County Fairgrounds.
The Red Cross collects and distributes about 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply. On any given day, 44,000 pints of blood may be required to meet the needs of patients across the United States.
Individuals who are at least 17 years of age (16 years with written parental permission in Iowa), weigh at least 110 pounds, and are generally in good health may be eligible to donate blood.
To make an appointment, please call 800-733-2767 or visit RedCrossBlood.org and search Sponsor: Monticello. Walk-in donors are welcome to donate blood. We ask walk-in donors to consider coming in the afternoon if possible, as the early timeslots are usually filled. Our goal is to get everyone in and out as soon as possible.
The Monticello Lions help you are able to participate in the Sept. 13 Red Cross Blood Drive.
Thank you for your support.
