Aquatic Center

The first session of swimming lessons is underway. There are still a few spots available during our second session, which runs from July 24 through Aug. 4. The deadline to register for the second session is Thursday, June 29.

For those interested in lap swim, there will be lanes open from 5-8 p.m., Monday through Friday.

One of the new policies we have implemented this year allows parents, and parents only, to go down the waterslide with their young ones if they do not meet the height requirement. You will not, however, be allowed to take down more than one child at a time.

If you don’t want to send cash with your child to the pool, stop by the “Snack Shack” and purchase a punch card. Cards will be kept in the shack so you have no fear of misplacing money. Purchased cards must be used by the end of the season. Any money left on cards at the end of the season will be forfeited. Contact Casey Reyner should you have any questions, creyner@ci.monticello.ia.us.

Youth flag football and volleyball

The early-bird deadline (Friday, June 30) for flag football and volleyball is quickly approaching. Registration forms can be picked up at the Berndes Center or the Aquatic Center. If you are unable to stop by either location for a form, contact Jacob Oswald at joswald@ci.monticello.ia.us.

Uptown Thursday Night

The first of three Uptown Thursday Night events will be held on June 22. Stop down to the pocket park to toss bags, enjoy some music, food, and beverages.

If you haven’t already, follow us on Facebook at “City of Monticello – IA Parks & Recreation.”
