Monticello places third in WEIGA tourney

     With a score of 626, the Monticello team finished third out of eight teams in the 70^th annual Women’s Eastern Iowa Golf Association Tournament, Aug. 4 at Fawn Creek Country Club in Anamosa.

     The Fawn Creek team won the tournament with a score of 548, followed by Wapsipinicon with 608 and Monticello with 626. Solon was fourth with 631, Tipton fifth with 652, Wahkonsa (Durant) sixth with 665, West Liberty seventh with 678, and Kernoustie (Mount Vernon) eighth with 688.

     Aspen Lynch led the Monticello team, shooting an 81 to finish eighth overall out of 72 golfers in the tournament. Lauren Ries shot an 82, Allison Ries had an 89, Tammy Sutterman shot 91, Linda Kleinow totaled 93, Dru Kramer carded a 94, Theresa Westhoff had 100, Brenda Bohlken finished at 103 and Becky Goedken had 105.

     The meet medalist was Kathy Davies of Fawn Creek, with a 74. Three players tied with scores of 77, and after a playoff, Hannah Houska of Wapsi finished second, Lynette Seaton of Fawn Creek was third, and Kara Hunt of Fawn Creek took fourth.
