Monticello School Board Recognition

In honor of School Board Recognition Month, The Monticello Express will spotlight a different member of the Monticello Community School District Board of Education each week during the month of May.

This week, get to know Board member Craig Stadtmueller.

Tell us about your family.

Lisa is my beautiful wife of 17 years. We have two children: Jessica is in sixth grade and Brandt is in third grade.

How many years have you served on the Monticello Board of Education?

Just over two years.

What has been your favorite Monticello Community Schools moment?

My favorite moment from this past year was hearing the final bond election results for a proposed new middle school and high school renovations. Seeing the strong community support for the school district and proposed facility improvements was awesome.

What advice would you give future board members?

I would say be prepared to learn a lot about the district and how it functions. I also think it’s really important to be a good board team member.

So keep an open, solution state of mind, listen well, communicate your thoughts, ask a lot of questions, and trust your fellow board members. Remember that the goal is about doing what’s best for schools.

Where did you graduate high school and college?

I am a Class of 1990 Monticello High School graduate. I completed my undergraduate degree from Wheaton College, and my graduate degree from Moore College in Sydney, Australia.

Hobbies/interests: Our family enjoys outdoor pursuits like camping, kayaking, and exploring. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, coaching baseball, and reading history, theology, and economics.
