Motorcycle-deer accident results in fatality
A single-vehicle accident that took place on Nov. 9 in Monticello resulted in a fatality.
The accident occurred at around 5:35 on Highway 38 and 195th Street east of town.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Jack Thomas Larrimore, 38, of Monticello was traveling northbound on Highway 38, driving a 1973 Honda Motorcycle, when a deer entered the roadway. Larrimore struck the deer. The deer went into the east ditch. Larrimore and his motorcycle came to rest on the east shoulder.
Larrimore was transported by Lifeguard Air Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where he died as a result of his injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Assisting the scene were the Monticello Ambulance Service, Monticello Fire Department, Jones County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Police Department, and UnityPoint Health – Lifeguard Air Ambulance.
