MV officers keep their chapter running smoothly

FFA WEEK

     Officers in the Maquoketa Valley FFA Chapter keep things running smoothly in chapter activities.

     The following are profiles of the MV officers.

 

     Name: Amanda Fortman.

     Year in school: Senior.

     Office held: President.

     Parents/guardians: Kenny and Vicki Fortman.

     Hometown: Manchester.

     SAE Project: Raising my fair steers and heifers.

     FFA Activities: Floriculture, Milk Quality and Products, Ag Communications, WLC, Food Science, Livestock Judging, Creed Speaking, Greenhand Quiz, Public Speaking, Conduct of Meetings, and World Dairy Expo.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to National FFA Convention and placing 11th in Milk Quality and Products.

     Future plans: Attend Iowa State University to major in Ag Communications and minor in International Agriculture.

 

     Name: Cole Kruse.

     Year in school: Junior.

     Office held: Vice President.

     Parents: Tom and Sara Kruse.

     Hometown: Petersburg.

     SAE: P&A Ayrshire Placement and KCCK Dairy Entrepreneurship.

     Activities: Dairy Judging, Milk Quality, Chapter Test, Agronomy, World Dairy Expo, County and State Fair Livestock Exhibitor.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Officer camp in Decorah and getting to learn more about the officer team. I also enjoy becoming friends with the Beckman members in our unique sharing agreement.

     Future plans: To attend an ag college and potentially participate in college Dairy Judging.

 

     Name: Josie Young.

     Year in school: Junior.

     Office held: Secretary.

     Parent: Aaron Young.

     Hometown: Delhi.

     SAE: Placement at Granny’s Greens.

     Activities: Floriculture, Milk Quality and Products, Marketing Plan, WLC, Conduct of Meetings, Greenhand Quiz, World Dairy Expo, Ag Broadcasting, Tri-State Dairy Expo, Horse Evaluation, District Officer Candidate, and County Fair Livestock Exhibitor.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Participating in the National Milk Quality CDE and earning a Gold.

     Future Plans: Attending South Dakota State or Iowa State to major in Animal Science–Pre-Vet, then attending the College of Veterinary Medicine.

 

     Name: Justin Wessel.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: National Convention tours and concert with fellow FFA members.

     Future plans: Leaning toward agriculture-related schools and majors.

     SAE: Agriscience Research; studying antimicrobial effect of ultraviolet radiation; Westhoff Farms, and J & D Catering.

     Activities: State FFA Convention, Nursery CDE, Delaware County Fair, State Milk Quality, State Dairy Judging, Subdistricts Creed Speaker, State FFA Science Fair, National Convention, FFA Fruit Sales.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Attending nationals my freshman and sophomore year.

     Future plans: Potentially attending a four-year school for Agriculture.

     Activities: Meats Judging, exhibiting at State and County Fair.

     Future plans: To become a pediatrician.
