The need for blood donations is critical

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

The Lions Club spring blood drive will be held on Thursday, April 13, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Community Building next to the Monticello library. Please note the change of location from recent Red Cross blood drives.

Every pint of blood donated has the power to give more time, more smiles, and more special days to patients in the hospital. Premature babies, mothers after delivery, cancer patients, trauma victims, and those receiving organ transplants are a few of the instances where patients can use blood in their journey towards wellness. Since blood cannot be artificially made, these hospital patients count on donors like you to provide that lifesaving link.

You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org. To save time at your next appointment, you can use RapidPass. To avoid doing the health history at the site, fill out RapidPass after 12 a.m. on April 13 prior to coming in to your appointment. Access RapidPass online at recrossblood.org/RapidPass.

I am told the need for blood at this time is critical. This is a call to blood donors to take the time out of your day on Thursday, April 13, to help give life to someone in need.

Thank you in advance for giving the gift of life to another.

Sincerely,

Co-coordinators

Lion Mel Manternach
