Northey endorses Rep. Hein for Iowa House

Former U.S. Under Secretary of Agriculture and former Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Bill Northey, announced his endorsement of Rep. Lee Hein (R-Monticello) in his re-election campaign. Rep. Hein has served the area in the House for 12 years and is running for the newly redistricted House District 66, encompassing all of Jones County and most of Jackson County.

In his endorsement, Northey said: “I have known Lee since he was first elected to the House and I have always found him to be honest, hardworking, and a representative voice for the people of Eastern Iowa.

“No one has consistently fought harder for Iowa farm families than Rep. Hein. Whether it’s his work on expanding renewable fuel opportunities, legislation that encompasses young farmers, stopping wasteful government spending, eliminating the death tax, and preserving our conservative family values, Lee has always found a way to effectively get the job done.

“I wholeheartedly endorse Lee in his re-election. I know he will continue to bring his commonsense approach to Des Moines, where it is much needed.”

Hein is a family farmer, born and raised in Monticello. Prior to being elected to the Iowa House, Hein served on the local school board and was a member of the Pork Producers and Cattlemen associations, as well as the Farm Bureau.
