O’Reilly Car Show draws crowd to Monticello

Several Monticello Chamber Ambassadors greeted car show celebrity guest Catherine Bach, aka. “Daisy Duke” on Feb. 22. Several motorcycles were on display at the car show, including this American Sport Bike owned by Scott Brunelle of Hudson, Wis.

Dave Staab of Vinton and John Hessenius of Waterloo look over this 1949 Cadillac Club Coupe owned by Bryce Brecht of Marengo, Iowa. Brecht won second place in the “Custom Category.”

     KCRG-TV9 presented the 51st Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Rod & Custom Car Show last weekend, Feb. 22-23, at the Monticello Berndes Center in Monticello, Iowa.

     Owners of winning entries received Muller Brother Trophies and Citizens State Bank cash awards. Entries came from six states: Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

Rod Category

     First place, Phil Prosser, Eldora, Iowa, 1933 Ford Speedstar Coupe. Second place, Mike Kuhn, Rochester, Minn., 1934 Ford Victoria. Third place, Mike Shields, Pontiac, Ill., 1937 Ford Coupe. Fourth place, Craig Fawcett, Oskaloosa, Iowa, 1936 Ford Coupe.

Custom Category

     First place, Robert A. Erickson, Mount Vernon, Iowa, 1955 Chevy Bel Air Sedan. Second place, Bryce Brecht, Marengo, Iowa, 1949 Cadillac Club Coupe. Third place, Carl Brush, East Peoria, Ill., 1950 Buick Sedan. Fourth place, Corey Seibert, Vinton, Iowa, 1961 Volkswagen Beetle Ragtop.

Machine Category
