Oberbroeckling named Top Nurse by INA

UnityPoint Health – Jones Regional Medical Center (JRMC) Nurse Practitioner Linda Oberbroeckling has been selected as a Top Nurse by the International Nurses Association (INA).

The INA highlights and profiles the world’s top nurses. The Association has been designed to spotlight nurses that have demonstrated success and leadership in their profession, as well as to provide an opportunity to network, collaborate and share information with other medical professionals.

Oberbroeckling, of Marion, has worked for UnityPoint Health since 1986. She worked as a nurse before going back to school for her ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner). Oberbroeckling previously worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids before coming to JRMC. While at St. Luke’s, she worked in a variety of departments: telemetry, CCU (coronary care unit), cardiac catheterization lab, and the EECP (Enhanced external counterpulsation). She finally transferred to the Emergency Department because she missed the patient interaction.

Oberbroeckling has been with JRMC the past three years. Her role as a hospitalist entails seeing hospitalized patients. Just this past July, Oberbroeckling started a new Palliative Care Program with another nurse. (Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses.)

“I’ve known since I was a child that I wanted to become a nurse,” she said. “My mother and aunt were nurses; and I love helping people.” She said it’s great to help patients deal with a chronic illness and make advanced directive goals.

Her biography will appear in the upcoming publication “Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare.”
