Panther frosh close season

     Monticello freshman volleyball team closed its season with a pair of dates in mid-October.

     The Panthers competed in the Tipton Tournament Oct. 10, and won two out of three matches.

     Monticello defeated Center Point-Urbana 20-2, 21-19, 9-15. Emma Porter had seven assists and two aces. Gabi Barnhart had two kills and two digs. Abby Sharlow had three kills and served 10-for-10. Taylor Gassman had four assists. Kinzi Schlarmann had four kills and three digs. Kendra Mescher had three kills. Jordan Fangmann had six digs and two aces. Kendra Jacobs had two aces.

     The Panthers then rallied to defeat Tipton in three sets, 10-21, 21-15, 20-18. Porter had 10 assists, three digs, three aces and two kills. Sharlow had six kills. Gassman had six assists, three aces, two kills and two digs. Schlarmann had three kills and three digs. Mescher had four kills. Fangmann had 10 digs. Raegan LaGrange had three kills.

     Against Williamsburg, the Panthers lost 16-21, 18-21. Porter had five assists and four digs. Barnhart had four aces and three digs. Sharlow had four kills. Schlarmann had three digs. Mescher had two kills. Fangmann had 12 digs.

     On Oct. 12, Monticello played at Anamosa and swept three sets, winning 21-13, 21-11, 21-17. Gassmann had nine assists and two kills. Barnhart had six aces, two kills and two digs. Sharlow had five kills and four aces. Sami McElmeel had three assists and two digs. Schlarmann had four kills, three digs and served 10-for-10 with two aces. LaGrange had three kills and four aces. Jacobs had four digs. Lake Schnoor had three aces.

     Monticello then competed against the Anamosa sophomore team Oct. 13 in Anamosa, and won two out of three sets, by scores of 18-25, 25-15, 15-12. Gassman had 11 assists and seven digs. Barnhart had seven digs, four kills and four aces. Sharlow had three kills and two aces. McElmeel had three assists and three digs. Schlarmann had five digs and three kills. LaGrange had seven kills. Jacobs had 13 digs.
