Panther JV controls Anamosa on both sides of ball

FOOTBALL

     Monticello racked up 212 rushing yards on offense, and forced four turnovers on defense, rolling to a 39-6 junior varsity football victory over rival Anamosa Oct. 11 at Dean Nelson Field.

     Dylan Roher rushed nine times for 81 yards and a touchdown, and returned an interception 28 yards for a score during the win. Rylan Cooper carried 13 times for 74 yards and a touchdown, while Kaden Finn had three carries for 50 yards and two scores. Tate Petersen also rushed for a touchdown, and passed for 42 yards.

     Gage Guilford had a 24-yard reception, Cooper caught a 10-yard pass, and Roher had and eight-yard catch.

     Defensively, Eian Weber and Petersen made interceptions, and Kole Weber recovered an Anamosa fumble. Cooper had six tackles, Roher had five, and Petersen had 3.5.

     Christian Castillo made all three of his extra point kicks, and Cooper ran in a pair of two-point conversions.

     The Panthers improved to 4-2 on the season.
