Panther JV splits games

     Six points were enough in one game, but not in the other, as the Monticello junior varsity football team split its two most recent games.

     The Panthers (3-1) defeated Cascade 6-0 Sept. 17 in a makeup game from an Aug. 24 postponement, at Cascade. On Sept. 21, Monticello traveled to Waukon and lost 20-6.

     At Cascade, Bo Kramer rushed 21 times for 66 yards and scored the only touchdown of the game. Rylan Cooper had 17 carries for 51 yards. Quarterback Luke Lambert completed seven of nine passes for 62 yards. Kain Luensman, Caleb Sauser and Grahm Schneiter all caught passes.

     Defensively, Cole Wilson led the team with six tackles, Kramer had 4.5, while Ian Lorenzen and Owen Thomas had three apiece. Lorenzen also recovered a Cascade fumble.

     In Friday’s game at Waukon, Luke Lambert completed nine of 14 passes for 108 yards. Kain Luensman caught six of those for 77 yards, while Connor Lambert, Riley Manternach and Ethan Tallman also had catches.

     Kramer rushed for 31 yards and the team’s only touchdown. Luke Lambert rushed for 36 yards.

     Kramer had six tackles, Sauser and Tallman had five each, Wilson had 4.5, and Kain Luensman had four.

     The Panthers will play host to North Fayette Valley Sept. 28 as part of homecoming night.
