Panther JV splits matches

Junior varsity

   Monticello split a pair of junior varsity volleyball matches last week.

   The Panthers (7-4) lost a two-set match at Dyersville Beckman Sept. 20, by scores of 14-25, 20-25. Hailey Henderson made 11 assists. Gabi Barnhart had six kills and two digs. Bella Mullen had three digs, two kills and two blocks. Kinzi Schlarmann had four digs, and Reagan Schneiter had three. Raegan LaGrange had two kills, and Kendra Jacobs had two digs.

   Monticello got back in the win column Sept. 22 at home, defeating Camanche 25-12, 25-23. Henderson had 16 assists and eight digs in that match. Barnhart had five kills, four digs and two aces. LaGrange had six kills and three digs. Schneiter had five kills. Schlarmann had six digs. Olivia Zimmerman had five digs and two assists. Mullen had three kills. Aleasha Schilling had one block.

Seventh-grade team

   At Cascade Sept. 15, the A team won 21-7, 19-21, 15-6. Kylee McElmeel served eight aces and had three kills. Emily Leytem had four aces and two assists. Alex Shover had two kills. Mallory McElmeel had two aces.

   The B team split four sets, winning 15-8, 15-12, and losing 15-17, 12-15. Gemma Haas served four aces, and Maddy Chaney had two.

   On Sept. 20, the teams played at Dyersville Beckman. The A team lost 13-21, 12-21. Kylee McElmeel had two kills, and Peytin Schultz served two aces.

   The B team split two sets, losing 5-15 and winning 15-10. The C team lost 14-16, 15-8, 8-15. Ava Gatena served two aces.

   Monticello then played host to Camanche Sept. 22. The A team swept three sets, 21-17, 21-19, 15-10. Kylee McElmeel had eight assists and four kills. Emily Leytem had four assists. Mallory McElmeel served two aces.

   In the B match, the Panthers lost 4-15, 4-15. Monticello lost the C match 5-15, 10-15, 9-15. Serving two aces apiece were Lily Kraus, Eliana Hanna, Jordyn Stoll, Amber Christensen, Adorablella Moore and Emma Bruggemann.

   The A team has a record of 4-2. The B/C teams are a combined 2-4-2.
