I like this sport because: I get such a euphoric feeling from it. There’s nothing I don’t love about track.
What is something the average person doesn’t know about your sport? Sprint training and distance training are two completely different things; one isn’t harder than the other because they are two different styles of running.
Biggest sports thrill as a participant: I didn’t do this personally, but watching Joy Ripslinger (from Davenport Assumption) win the 400, 800, 1,500 and 3,000 at State last year was insane. She’s a legend.
Pre-competition rituals/superstitions: I used to do this thing where before every 200 I would eat Reese’s peanut butter cups, but that was short-lived. Otherwise for relays I only like to use our silver baton.
Biggest academic accomplishment: Scoring 30 on my ACT, or getting accepted in the Honors Program at Loras.
Biggest influence: My coaches and my drive to be better every day.
Favorite male athlete: Rich Froning or Mathew Fraser.
Favorite female athlete: Annie Thorisdottir.
Favorite pro team: CrossFit Mayhem Freedom.
Favorite college team: Obviously the Loras Duhawks.
Favorite subject in school: Math or science.
Favorite teacher: Ms. Lynn or Mr. Sauser.
Favorite TV show: “The Vampire Diaries.”
Favorite movie: “Stuck in Love” or “Collateral Beauty.”
Favorite social media app: This app called Thrive that disables my phone so I can study without getting notifications.
Favorite musician: Beyonce.
Favorite food: Truthfully there isn’t anything I wouldn’t eat, but I eat a bag of popcorn every night.
Nickname: My mom likes to call me “Luigi.”
Most famous person I’ve met: Paige Holub.
Jobs/other activities: I am a waitress at Teddy’s Barn & Grill in Amber.
College/future plans: Attend Loras College to double major in psychology and neuroscience, with minors in philosophy and Catholic studies.
