     Name: Madeline Tobiason.

     Age: 17.

     Parents: Melinda Gutzeit and Kyle Tobiason.

     Sport: Volleyball.

     Awards received: Coaches’ Award in 2017.

     Season goals: To improve and play my absolute best.

     I like this sport because: I have grown up playing it, and have loved it ever since Berndes Center league.

     What is something the average person doesn’t know about your sport? We have to run and condition a lot. Some may think that volleyball doesn’t take that much endurance, but it can wear you out quickly if you aren’t conditioned.

     Biggest sports thrill as a participant: Getting a win over a rival.

     Rituals/superstitions: Crossing our left leg over our right during varsity games. We did it at North Cedar and beat them for the first time in like six years.

     Biggest influence: My mom and my aunt. They grew up playing volleyball and are always supporting me no matter what.

     Favorite male athlete: Christian Yelich.

     Favorite female athlete: Kerri Walsh Jennings.

     Favorite pro team: Bears.

     Most famous person I’ve met: I’ve been about 10 feet away from Ariana Grande, so I have to count that.

     College/future plans: I work at St. John’s, and my future plans are going to UNI and majoring in social work.
