To the Editor,

     The Monticello Girls Basketball team has had an amazing journey this season that ended at Wells Fargo in Des Moines. It was a fun ride that was made all that more special by the support we had along the way.

     There are many to show our appreciation to so:

     To the Monticello community, we are proud to come from a small town because we show up big! This is “Our Town” and we feel lucky to represent that on our jerseys!

     To the area businesses, we would like to acknowledge all of you for your support! To Ohnward and Citizens banks, we thank you for offering buses for State!

     To our school staff and administrators, we thank you for the hours of dedication and best wishes all season. There are a lot of awesome things happening at Monticello Schools and we are glad to be a part of it!

     To the best student section in the State of Iowa, you showed up in full force and yelled loud and proud. You played such a large part in keeping us up and helping get the wins so a big shout out to Panther Nation!

     To the many fans who support us all season, there is nothing better than seeing the bleachers full of red and black. We appreciate you coming to our games and even making the road trips to show that Panther Pride!

     To our special photographers who helped capture the moments, we will now have memories that last a lifetime! We are so glad Dianna Rucker was recognized in Des Moines for what she has done for Monticello teams. Also, Pete Temple’s coverage with the Monticello Express is top notch!

     To our parents, we know it is the toughest job out there. We will never be able to tell you just how much we appreciate your support over the years – taking us to practice, cheering us on at games, keeping our spirits up, and making this season and State such a special experience!

     Lastly, we want to thank our coaches for the countless hours spent away from your families and other priorities. Our team has become a special family where we were all in it together. Coach Kremer’s passion kept us going all season and we are glad we could add another State appearance to the program!

     It takes a village and the 2017-18 Monticello Girls Basketball team thinks we are surrounded by the best around!

     To the little girls in Monticello who will play after us, work hard and dream big!
