The Panthers returned to Camanche on Jan. 29 for a match against the Storm but fell 2,614-2,280.
Jacobs led the Panthers in the individual round, rolling games of 178 and 156. Eitel (178-133) and Norton (179-132) each had 311 series to make the Panthers’ top three scores.
“We missed a lot of single pins at the conference meet, so we worked a lot on that at practice,” Panther coach Brian Meyer said. “It really paid off, the girls just seemed a lot more comfortable. We had low series in the 240s at conference and now our low series were in the 280s.”
Meyer said the girls made big strides in the two meets at Camanche and is encouraged by their performance.

BOYS BOWLING
The Monticello boys bowling team also made the trip to Imperial Lanes on Jan. 29 and picked up the 3,190-2,796 victory.
The Panthers got out to 124-pin lead after the individual round, outscoring the Storm 2,044-1,920 after two individual games.
Quinn Thomas paced the Panthers rolling games of 205 and 258 for a 463 series. Brayden Todd followed with a 423 series, shooting games of 239 and 184. Gavin Hinrichs’ 407 series (194-213) made up Monti’s top three scores.
The Panthers lit up the baker round, going off for games of 234, 245, 193, 247 and 227.
“Opposite of teams we’ve had in this past, we are actually better in baker than in the individual games,” Meyer commented. “And this is the best baker they’ve ever had. Averaging 230 for the night is darn good. We do that in districts and we’re going to state. They hadn’t really been performing well, but they really came together and bowled well in Camanche.”
Monticello will host a Class 1A State Qualifying Meet on Feb. 16. Benton, Knoxville, Pella Christian, Fairfield and Washington will make up the field of teams vying for state tournament births.
