Panthers second in Blazer Invite

BOYS GOLF

The schedule is going to get a lot busier for the Monticello High School boys golf team, but that wasn’t the case last week.

The Panthers had just a single meet, the Blazer Invitational 18-hole tournament Monday, April 15 at Dyersville Golf and Country Club.

Monticello performed well there, finishing second in a competitive field of six, with a team score of 338. Maquoketa had the top team score, 327. West Delaware was just two strokes behind the Panthers in third, at 340.

Three Panthers earned medals for finishing in the top 10: Justin Recker was fifth with a total score of 82, including 39 on the back nine. Hunter Kramer shot 40 on the front nine and totaled 85 to take eighth place. And Connor Lambert was 10th, also with an 85. Kaden Kiburz just missed out on the top 10, with an 86.

This week’s schedule included three home meets: an April 23 match against Cascade, a match against Anamosa April 25 (rescheduled from April 12), and an April 26 match against Lisbon (rescheduled from April 11).
