Panthers shine at Stack the Stands; Monticello Club Dance also excels

Monticello Club Dance competed at the Stack the Stands competition Oct. 14-15 in Cedar Rapids, and took second place in the Junior High category. DANCE

     Monticello High School brought home a first place in the Jazz category and second in Pom at the Stack the Stands dance competition Oct. 14-15 in Cedar Rapids.

     The team won the Class 2A/3A Jazz division, with Cedar Rapids Xavier finishing second and Clear Creek-Amana taking third. In 2A Pom, Cascade was first, Monticello second and Mid-Prairie third.

     The Panthers also did well individually, as all six soloists placed. In the Junior/Senior category, out of 68 dancers, Melissa Davis finished eighth and Kate Tuetken was 10th. In the Freshman/Sophomore category, out of 41 dancers, Anisa Krouse was third, Ally Bartachek took fourth, Emma Brighton was seventh and Madisan Birt placed eighth.

     The team is coached by Amanda Hackney.
