Monticello had top-three finishes in five events, going on to a fourth place finish in the Hollingsworth Relays Saturday, April 13 at Iowa City West.

The Panthers had strong showings in the field events. Wade Picray placed second in the discus with a throw of 154-foot-2, and Lake Stahlberg was third in the shot put at 46-4.75. Two Monticello athletes scored points in the high jump, as Avery Martensen was third and Caden Ungs took fourth.

Martensen scored Monticello’s only win of the meet, winning the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.09 seconds. Ty Jesenovec was fifth in the same event.

The Panthers also were third in the 1,600 distance medley event with the team of Martensen, Gavin Cooper, Carter Cruise and Jon Mootz.

Monticello was also scheduled to host a boys’ meet April 11, but poor weather caused it to be postponed.
